At-Risk Youth Programs

Mentoring and Intervention

Gaining Ground will provide for each program participant individual or group sessions to discuss important issues that cause stress, including mistrust due to violence and family separations. A home life where there is no positive parent role model to help guide them through problems with emotional, physical and abusive issues within their lives is much needed for these young minds to grow and see a better life for themselves. Whether it’s giving guidance and support to those who have made great steps in overcoming their addictions, facilitating anger management courses, conflict resolution training, working on life skills, public speaking, or domestic violence facilitation, the specialists at Gaining Ground Youth Services will tailor our program to the specific needs of the individual.

Tutoring

Each at-risk youth will be working to continue their state required education and we will assist with after school tutoring support. Youth who can no longer attend public school (18-24 years of age) must complete the GED program as instructed through a qualified staff person. Those wanting to attend college can get involved in grants and scholarship searches to aide in the college expenses.  In this generation education is the key to employment for everyone!!

Employment

After each student completes all of their educational requirements set forth by the program, those that are of legal working age (youths 18 years +) will know how to complete a job application, complete job inquiry/search, and attend interviews set up by our program staff. Our program will also assist our youths in obtaining their work permit. Some interviews may also be set through our students own initiative efforts. The program staff will be there to help pave a smooth transition into the work world.

Gaining Ground Youth Services specializes in being an advocate and peer parent coach working with individuals and families having a difficult time navigating through the courts probation/parole appellate system in relation to their case.
